Neck Muscle Exercises to Build a Huge Neck
Most guys who visit the gym generally tend to focus on bigger and more talked about parts of the body, such as chest, shoulders, thighs and most importantly the biceps. They feel building huge biceps like Arnold will make them look stronger and muscular.
While they may be right to some extent, imagine what your body will look like if you have a really thin, 14 inch neck as compared to 18 inch biceps and 44 inch chest ! Obviously you will look like a freak, and no body will appreciate your muscular sturcuture, no matter how big your biceps, chest or shoulders might be.
Sporting a large neck goes a long way in ensuring you don’t get injured while training and also at the same time it makes you look much more powerful, stronger and muscular. So instead of neglecting this important part of your body, start working on it now.
But how exactly do we build a bigger neck? While most gymnasiums do not incorporate neck building exercises in their training routine, thankfully there are a few exercises you can do to make sure your neck grows along with other muscles in your body.
Neck Muscle Exercises to Grow Your Neck:
1. Dumbbell Shrugs - Although dumbbell shrugs is primarily an exercise for trap muscles, it indirectly trains the neck portion as well by building your traps and putting strain on your neck as well, thereby growing them in the mean time.
2. Neck Curls - Neck curls is done with the weight hanging below with the help of neck straps and weight. Curl the weight upwards with the muscle in your neck, which will put strain on your neck muscles and make them grow bigger over time. Doing 3 sets of 10-12 repetitions in best. And remember not to overdo it. Train the muscle, not over-train it.
3. Neck Bridges - Put a free weight on your chest while lying down, and try to move your neck back and forth. Ideally you should place a pillow or a towel underneath so your head/neck does not get hurt. Again 3 sets of 10-12 reps is fine.
You will notice that doing these exercises will result in a bigger neck over time. Although the growth might not be spectacular, be persistent with it and the results won’t be far away.
